Skincare educational programs vary in length depending on
local schools programs and whether you attend part or full-time.
During school, skincare students learn many approaches and
techniques to providing facials as well as skin anatomy and product
knowledge.
A skincare program focuses on skincare treatments and
correcting skin disorders through a variety of ways, including
facials, waxing, body wraps, make-up application and skincare
regiments.
Skincare students learn how to combine approaches,
techniques and products to address individual therapeutic skincare
needs.
Typical classes included in a skincare education:
- Facial Treatments - Involves learning
the steps of European style facials, which include cleansing,
exfoliating, and moisturizing. Basic facial massage
techniques are included.
- Hair Removal - Involves learning
the stages of hair growth and the applications of wax on
various areas of the body.
- Skin Analysis & Typing - Involves
learning to assess the skin for various conditions to ensure proper
treatment.
- Body Treatments - Involves
learning the steps to cleanse, exfoliate and hydrate the body.
- Make-up Application - Involves
training in skin tone matching, artificial eyelashes, day and
special occasion make-up, and the ability to teach make-up
application.
- Anatomy & Histology - Involves
learning the bones and muscles of the face, including skin
health.
- Sanitation &
Disinfection- Involves study of bacteria, viruses,
and state and federal regulations.
- Professional Development - Involves
learning to build a successful business and clientele
base.
